Peter Townshend from The Who has hit the headlines for changing his iconic Volkswagen camper van for a spanking new Transporter Sportline.
‘I was really sad to say goodbye to our camper van as my partner Rachel and I had good times in it, but the Volkswagen Transporter I’m driving now is much better to drive, modern and much faster’, Pete Townshend confessed.
The Who formed a project partnership with Volkswagen Commercial vehicles last year whilst performing at an event to celebrate 60 years of the Transporter van, so it seemed fitting that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles now own the infamous camper van and intend to display it at a variety of forthcoming shows and events.
Although Peter is happy to wave goodbye to his trusty campervan in favour of a new, distinctively styled Transporter Sportline, would you be so happy to make the swap?
We can’t argue that the Sportline is a great buy – it includes18 inch alloy wheels, lowered suspension, chrome side rails, rear roof spoiler and leather upholstery to name a few of the features on offer, but does it have the same character as a the camper van?
Can you put a price on a good vintage van model? Or, do VW camper vans cease to exist as nothing more than a model of interest at future motors shows and events?
If you own a VW Transporter camper van, we want to know what you think?
